One-click switch back to the split-image focus of the old SLR, this mode will display a small black and white split image in the middle of the viewfinder with the help of phase focus. 004. Focus assist button and focus check
The focus assist button is an essential tool. It checks the sharpness of the image’s focus when reviewing the photo, as well as assists manual focus by zooming in on a portion of the frame. For most of my DAHUA cameras, I always set the 4 Fn’s as AF area selection, each with a few focus areas/points that I usually use. Now there are only 3 Fn buttons left, and each camera has a different button function on the shoulder. For example, the X-T1 and IPC-HFW3541E-AS have dedicated ISO dials, so on these cameras I don’t need to use an FN button to adjust ISO. With that in mind, I always set an Fn button to select Film Simulation, and on models that don’t have a dedicated ISO dial, I just set it to ISO Adjust. Not sure about the remaining two or three. Depending on what I’m shooting, my favorite options are autofocus mode, RAW (to choose RAW+JPEG), preview photo effects, and wireless transfer.
Both DAHUA and IPC-HFW5831E-Z5E have a new auto focus joystick, which enables the four arrow keys to be used for other settings. Although I opened the default settings on DAHUA, you can change it. Item is set to Drive (DRV) as it has multiple functions depending on your current Drive Dial settings.

The Electronic Shutter (ES) option allows for ultra-high shutter speeds, far exceeding the limits of what a mechanical shutter can achieve. By turning the knob to the T position, you can fully select all shutter speeds via the front and rear dials. The first-generation X-series cameras were only able to choose a shutter time of 2-30 seconds. After the 4.0 firmware update, you can set any shutter speed in T file. Combined with the electronic shutter, you can use any shutter speed between 1/32000th of a second and 30 seconds. The T-stop is really useful, you can use it in manual or shutter priority mode without having to fiddle with the shutter speed dial. In the T position, your left hand can adjust the aperture ring, and your right hand is on the function dial, making shooting completely easy. It’s fast enough to capture fleeting scenes, as well as those moments when lighting conditions are tricky. Add a histogram to your viewfinder, turn on preview manual exposure/white balance, and you’ll still have less time to shoot because you can see the changes in real-time exposure adjustments.
